PRC Banker Development Programme
HSBC’s PRC Banker Development Programme (BDP) was established in 1991 with an
 objective to develop banking specialists and future leaders through practical
 experience and skills training.

The 24-month programme includes classroom training, on-the-job training, job r
otation and attachments to various businesses and functions across HSBC China.


Recruitment Process
To evaluate whether applicants possess the management potential and key qualit
ies, HSBC uses a multiple assessment process which includes:

?       Aptitude Test
?       Phone interview
?       HR Capability-based Interview
?       Occupational Personality Questionnaire
?       Graduate Assessment centre
?       Line Manager Evaluation

Application Method
To be considered, you must have at least a bachelor degree from any discipline
 gained from a reputable university, with good academic standing. We will also
 consider undergraduates who have gained up to three-year working experience.
We look for candidates with good academic achievement, proficiency in Chinese
and English.

Seven Streams – Focused Programme
There are seven business focussed streams in our BDP, each designed to optimis
e the learning experience and provide trainees with skill sets specific to the
 respective business needs. Following is a brief description of each of the se
ven business areas.


Global Banking
GB focuses on building relationships and developing profitable business with s
elected large multinational companies investing into China, and large PRC dome
stic companies, particularly those trading/investing internationally, where we
 can leverage the HSBC Group’s global network to provide international soluti
ons.
Commercial Banking
HSBC Commercial Banking is one of the Bank’s core business lines, with a more
 than 140-year history and operations in 65 countries and territories with ove
r 8,300 relationship managers. We are therefore ideally positioned to serve bu
sinesses by fully leveraging our global network and local expertise. We focus
on delivering solutions for Leading International Businesses (LIB) while striv
ing to be the best bank for small business.
Personal Financial Services
HSBC offers a wide range of PFS products and services to respond to our custom
ers' financial needs. PFS core customer proposition is HSBC Premier; the world
’s first globally linked-up banking service.  HSBC Premier is a personalised
banking and wealth management solution that enables our customers to explore a
nd seize all the rich opportunities the world now has to offer. Leveraging our
 international expertise and local distribution network, we provide wealth man
agement products and services in accordance with customers’ financial needs i
n different life stages, including structured investments, capital protected i
nvestments, Qualified Domestic Institutional Investor Plans (QDII), insurance
and more.
Global Transaction Banking
Global Transaction Banking includes specialized product areas of Securities Se
rvices and Trade Supply Chain and Payment and Cash management. 
HSBC Technology and Services
The creation of HSBC Technology and Services (HTS) was an important step in jo
ining up the HSBC Group. HTS is the new Technology and Operations organisation
. It brings together Technology and Operations teams across HSBC and provides
the operations, technology infrastructure, business support systems, property
and other support and services for the HSBC Group. As an integral part of the
HSBC Group, HTS comprises of more than a 100,000 people (about 1/3 of total em
ployees) throughout the world.
Credit Risk Management
The Credit Risk Management Department is responsible for maintaining the area’
s credit quality and setting the credit policies as well as procedures in main
land China.
Compliance
The major responsibilities of the Compliance function are to assist management
 to discharge their responsibilities in implementing compliance policies and i
n ensuring compliance with all relevant laws, codes, rules, regulations, stand
ards of good market practice in every aspect where we conduct business so as t
o protect the good reputation of the Bank.
